Ikea Kitchen Makeover

Browsing through pinterest I was inspired to make over Eloise's play kitchen from Ikea. We picked this kitchen because it was simple and allowed for more imaginative play than the ones that make all the noise and come with 1,000s of pieces of food.

But I wanted to give it some color so here's what I did:

Spray Paint: Krylon (I used "ballet slipper" but there are tons of colors)
Wrapping Paper: Rifle Paper Co
Mod Podge:  Matte Finish
Prints on top: Hi Kids Co

It would probably be easiest to do this project before building the kitchen, but my mom got the kitchen for Eloise's first birthday in September so we just took the pieces off that we needed.
I'm not even going to try to explain how to mod podge correctly because mine looks awful close up :), but I used a foam board and cut it to the size of the back of the kitchen. Then I cut the wrapping paper to size and applied. I used Rifle Paper Co for the wrapping paper because I love their prints and it's really thick, so it makes it a little easier to work with compared to normal gift wrap. Then I spray-painted the pieces I wanted. I probably did 5-6 coats, letting them dry for 30 minutes in-between.

I've seen these kitchen make overs done in so many ways, some completely re-painted with the fixtures replaced, some with a foam board and a cute design on the back. I really love how it turned out. And lets be real, at 14 months...Eloise has no idea so this project was mainly for me.
